PERCEPTION

Perception can be regarded as each individual's personal theory of reality, the knowledge-gathering process that defines our view of the world. Perceptual outlook guides our mental and behavioral activities, we naturally find it fascinating to inquire. Perception accentuates the important and diminishes or even ignores, the irrelevant. I thought of writing about this, because learning about perception satisfies my intellectual curiosity about people and the world in which we live.

So what do you think influences our perception? Well I think, needs, peer groups, interests, expectations and heredity can be some of the factors that influence our perception. So, perception can sometimes be a problem in our communication since it may misrepresent an object's true appearance. DO YOU REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME YOU MET YOUR BEST FRIEND? What was your initial thought about that person? Perhaps you thought your future best friend was serious and a harsh person, just because she seemed more like an introvert. In the end, your perception could have been incorrect as she turned out to be awesome. Now, those "INITIAL THOUGHTS" that ran through your mind were your perceptions of the person.

As for me, a lot of people perceive me differently at first sight, but when they get to know me, they be like, "you are different than I thought!” All I’m trying to say is that, we have to deal with our perceptions by controlling them like, DO NOT JUDGE SOMEONE BY THE FIRST IMPRESSION.

Negative perceptions can prevent you from seeing the good in someone or something, it is not always the physical appearance or first impression of a person that defines who that person is. Our perceptions have to provide us with a useful view of the world, where "useful" means being able to interact safely and effectively within our environment, though it doesn't have to provide us with an accurate view of the world, perfectly detailed in every respect.

Well, it's not always someone's fault having negative perceptions, sometimes it's due to their past experiences, culture and even their present feelings. Because, we are living in a world in which it's not that easy to get to know a person due to some various factors that blocks you from knowing that person or even your perceptions, though sometimes our misrepresentation improves our chances of interacting effectively with that object.

So, going one step further, let's discuss our perceptual experiences, for the purposes of comparison. Are your perceptions always useful? Or they always prevent you from seeing something good in the other side of the picture.

Well let me start by saying, I always think it's good to have positive attitude on someone or something. Whereby, it's not always something good because you might be preventing yourself from seeing the truth. Like, you perceive a person to be kind-hearted but in real sense that person is heartless, but due to the fact that you see good in that person, you just don't want to deal with the heartless part of him or her (on the other side, it sounds okay) but it's not always okay because all you are trying to do is diminishing the important and it's not what "perception" is. So making it short is that, I am still working on my perceptions. So what do you guys have to say about "PERCEPTION". It's an interesting subject I expect a lot of contributions from you!

  2. We kind of having this fear to get know people because of the way they present themselves to us but when you got to know that person gives you different out come so lets kill bad perception and get to know the person first and from there you can know if he/she meet with your character
